Sweeney Todd Nominated for Five Critics Choice Awards

Tim Burtons Sweeney Todd: Demon Barber Of Fleet Street has been nominated for five Critics Choice Awards for the 'The 13th Annual Critics' Choice Awards'. will Air Live from the Santa Monica Civic Auditorium on VH1, Monday, January 7 at 9PM (ET/PT).

The First Major Awards Show of the Season will Air Live from the Santa Monica Civic Auditorium on VH1, Monday, January 7 at 9PM (ET/PT. The awards are bestowed annually by the BFCA to honor what they consider to be the finest in cinematic achievement.

With 18 categories which include the non-traditional Best Acting Ensemble, Best Young Actor/Actress category and more. This is also the only award show where the Best Picture Category has 10 nominees rather then the standard five. Sweeney Todd has been nominated under the following categories: Best Actor(Johnny Depp), Best Picture, Best Director, Best Young Actor (Edward Sanders), & Best Acting Ensemble.

Unfortunately and surprisingly Helena Bottom Carter was not nominated for her role as Mrs Lovett. However, the awards are bestowed annually by the BFCA to honor what THEY CONSIDERto be the finest in cinematic achievement. We personally think she was amazing as Mrs Lovett and underrated as an actress.

Johnny Depp To Play Dillinger

Johnny has signed on for Michael Mann's "Public Enemies." Depp will play Public Enemy No. 1 John Dillinger in the film, which will also feature real-life characters including Baby Face Nelson and Pretty Boy Floyd, as well as FBI head J. Edgar Hoover.

The period drama, focuses on the government's attempts to stop some of the most famous criminals of the Depression era. Michael Mann wrote the script based on the 2004 book by Bryan Burroughs.
