Producer Jerry Bruckheimer and Disney have been meeting with a number of directors in recent weeks, since Gore Verbinski stepped out to focus on a movie version of the vidgame “Bioshock” for Universal. Disney wants to pull the “Pirates” film together and have Depp star in it before he does “The Lone Ranger” for the producer and the studio. While Marshall’s involvement wasn’t immediately confirmed, sources said things look good enough that the studio has begun casting new characters that will appear in the picture.

~Pirates IV To Shoot April/May 2010~
Disney's Head of Production Oren Aviv confirmed today that they are definitely on board for Pirates IV and that they have plans to be rolling film on the movie as early in April/May next year.
We're going to shoot 'Pirates 4' in April and May of next year," Aviv told Coming Soon during an Interview. "We are going to release it hopefully in 2011 is the plan." He said that this time they would only be doing one movie. "It's important to get the story right and it's important to me to scale it down, because we can't get bigger," Aviv admitted. "The movies have subsequently gotten bigger and bigger and very complicated and they were satisfying on so many levels obviously, but I want to kind of reboot the whole thing and bring it down to its core, its essence, just characters." He agreed that there is a lot of Captain Jack Sparrow's back story that we haven't seen yet without confirming or denying that we might see some of that in the fourth movie. Still no word on whether Gore Verbinski might come back for the fourth movie.

Johnny Depp Makes An Appearance At Comic Con With Tim Burton Director of Alice In Wonderland
~Johnny Makes An Appearance At Comic Con~
Rumor turned to reality today when Johnny Depp showed up at Comic Con with Tim Burton as part of Disney's 3D panel, which was moderated by comedian and Ratatouille star Patton Oswalt. Burton said the 3-D peek through the looking glass is his most challenging film yet.
"It's the first time we've done a lot of green screen," he said. "It starts to freak you out after a while."
After he showed the trailer for Alice Johnny appeared on stage and the crowd erupted in cheers. Johnny waved, then he and Tim Burton left the stage.
Oren Aviv, president of production for Walt Disney Studios, said Burton sketched the various costumes, characters and settings for years before taking on the project.
"To see this world come to life," Aviv said, "it's amazing."
Disney's traveling exhibit of props, costumes, sketches and set models from the movie is on display at the 40th annual Comic Con. The pop-culture convention is being held at the San Diego Convention Center through Sunday. Two misshapen wooden doors lead into the rabbit hole, where a giant Alice (in mural form) overlooks a glass case filled with bottles and boxes. Another case holds one of the 17 dresses Alice wears in Burton's (and costume designer Colleen Atwood's) Wonderland.A second pair of doors lead to the Mad Hatter's tea party. The table is set with cakes, scones and the original teapot from the movie, due in theaters next year. One of Johnny Depp's Mad Hatter costumes is on display, complete with a wild orange wig and famous hat.In the corner are two enormous flowers with human faces. Look closely and notice the faces move.
The last room introduces the Red Queen (Helena Bonham Carter), with her heart-shaped scepter, eyeglasses and executioner's ax. Her heart-shaped throne anchors the room. A miniature model of her court sits beside it, near a display of her jewel-encrusted gown. A painting of the Red Queen with flaming red hair and tiny heart-shaped lips hangs nearby. The White Queen's gown is also on display, as is the armor Alice wears when she fights "the monstrous Jabberwocky."
~Alice In Wonderland Trailer Leaked~
It was everyones understanding that Disney would debut Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland teaser trailer on Facebook shortly after the Disney panel at Comic-Con. However it seems that IGN has released it earlier than anticipated or should I say allowed. The video is also showing at Firstshowing.net who still has it on their website. It seems that all the trailer releases are being taken down because of the facebook promo so don't forget to check in at Facebook. *Update we now have the trailer.
~Tim Burton Confirms Dark Shadows Filming 2010~
Tim Burton spoke to MTV confirming Johnny Depps comment said during the “Public Enemies” junket a few weeks ago that Dark Shadows and a fourth Pirates of the Caribbean film to start filming next year.
“That’s something that [Depp and I] both love and are excited about,” the director told MTV News. “When I’m done with this I’ll definitely focus on that.” “Shadows” will be based on the ‘60s soap opera of the same name, an ABC daytime TV show that incorporated elements of gothic romance, science fiction and supernatural phenomena like ghosts, zombies and vampires.
Depp will reportedly play vampire Barnabas Collins. “It’s another challenge because it was such a weird soap opera,” Burton explained. “Part of the energy of it was the tone and weirdness of it. That’s our challenge, to try to capture that vibe.” That vibe was part campy melodrama, part dead serious—and decidedly odd—storytelling. Which direction does Burton plan on going? “It’s always a fine line,” he said. “That remains to be seen. That’s a question and a challenge we talk about a lot. I haven’t arrived at the answer. That’s definitely a main issue, the tone and the vibe of it because as we all know melodrama can cross over. It’s one of the more interesting things about it.”

Tim Burton has confirmed that he will be showing a Semi-Trailer of Alice In Wonderland at Comic Con
~Alice In Wonderland Sneak Peak At Comic Con~
We already know that Tim Burton will be attending Comic Con but we can now confirm that he will be showing a "Semi-Trailer" of his 3-D adaptation of “Alice in Wonderland with footage never shown in public.
Burton's "Alice" is being planned as a sort of sequel (our term, not theirs) to the story presented in Lewis Carroll's original works. Alice, now 17, follows the White Rabbit away from a high society party, once again landing herself in Wonderland. Only this is a changed Wonderland, a place now ruled over by the evil Red Queen. And since Alice can't remember her last visit, she'll have some hurdles to overcome before she can help her old friends reclaim their world.
“[It’s] a kind of a semi-trailer,” Burton said. “It’s where we’re at at the moment. There’s not a lot of footage to show.”
The reason is that the technological challenges of blurring the lines between live-action, motion-capture and animation have proved to be massive. “It’s a strange process we’re dealing with,” he explained. “We’re using a mix of techniques. If you picked them apart, each technique has been done before. We’re mixing them up, in a way.”
“I wish we had more footage to show,” Burton added. “It’s a real mysterious puzzle that’s frightening and exciting at the same time.”

~Vanity Fair Spotlight Mad About The Hatter~
If you have not yet purchased your copy of Vanity Fair then you are in luck because Vanity Fair spotlight Tim Burtons Alice In Wonderland with Johnny Depp as the Mad Hatter and Helena Bonham Carter as the Red Queen, photographed at Culver Studios, in Culver City, California.
After the huge success of Batman (1989), Tim Burton might have gone the route of Hollywood action director, churning through every iconic American superhero. Instead, he has spent the last 20 years on his own candy-colored, cobwebby path, inventing heartbreakingly peculiar heroes (Edward Scissorhands) and giving a macabre edge to children’s classics (Roald Dahl’s Charlie and the Chocolate Factory). It would seem inevitable that one day he’d take on Lewis Carroll’s Alice in Wonderland, last seen on film in the bland animated Disney version of 1951. Fifty-eight years later, the Cheshire Cat and the Red Queen were begging to be reimagined by the living master of cheeky Goth.
It’s inevitable, also, that it would star, as the Mad Hatter, Johnny Depp, whose real-life passion for haberdashery could hardly be better documented. Now on their seventh collaboration, Depp and Burton both grew up as suburban outcasts and admit to speaking a language on set that no one else understands. The film also stars Anne Hathaway as the White Queen, Burton’s partner, Helena Bonham Carter, as the Red Queen, Crispin Glover as the Knave of Hearts, and Mia Wasikowska (In Treatment, Defiance) as Alice. The director has employed “performance capture” technology and 3-D—two more reasons it seems destined to be of a rare breed: the auteur’s blockbuster.
