~Geoffrey Rush On Boards For Pirates~
In a recent Interview with MTV Geoffrey Rush confirmed that he is on board for Pirates of The Caribbean "On Stranger Tides". Rush said he's definitely set to reprise his role as nefarious Captain Barbossa, and has been told to keep his schedule open for a possible start to filming next spring.
"They're waiting for the screenplay writers to put together something that's beyond the trilogy, take it off into a new direction so that it's fresh and hopefully really interesting for an audience, that they're not going to just sausage-machine out something else, which wouldn't be so good." said Rush. ~Dick Cook Resigns From Disney~
A few days after spending the Day with Johnny Depp at the D23 Expo. Dick Cook, the longtime head of Walt Disney Studios, abruptly left the company Friday afternoon after 38 years. In a statement he says he had been contemplating stepping down for some time. "I have loved every minute of my 38 years that I have worked at Disney . . . from the beginning as a ride operator on Disneyland's steam train and monorail to my position as chairman of the Walt Disney Studios," he said. "To wrap up my Disney experience in a neatly bundled statement is close to impossible. But what I will say is . . . we have achieved many industry and company milestones."
Statement By Johnny Depp , who said his enthusiasm for a fourth "Pirates" movie has waned with the news of Cook's exit, said "it seems like the whole town is shocked," Depp said in a phone interview from London. He said Cook called him a few hours ago to break the news.Source: LA Times
"He is the utmost gentleman, so he made the call himself. He said, 'I'd like you to hear it from me before you hear it from someone else or read it,'" Depp said. "He said today was my last day. He didn't give me a reason."
Depp added, "I didn't see this coming. There was no reason to see this coming."
The actor said it was because of Cook that he ended up working with Disney in the first place. Cook had been trying woo Depp for years with various projects including doing voice-overs for animated films and one day, in Cook's office, the studio chief threw out an idea that Depp pounced on.
"He said, 'We're thinking about doing this 'Pirates of the Caribbean' movie,'" Depp recalled. "I said I was in. This was before there was a script or anything."
Depp said one of the reasons he committed to the movie was because he trusted Cook.
"He's instantly trustworthy. And you generally don't meet people at the studios you trust," Depp said. "He's a rare beast."
Depp said Cook's true character was evident right from the get-go. "When things went a little sideways on the first 'Pirates' movie and others at the studio were less than enthusiastic about my interpretation of the character, Dick was there from the first moment. He trusted me," said Depp, referring to his controversial choices to fill his mouth with gold fillings and wear "things tied into my hair" that made him resemble Rolling Stones guitarist Keith Richards as much as he did a pirate.
While some of the Disney executives were "opposed to my body language," Cook "was completely supportive of me," Depp said.
As for the fourth planned "Pirates" movie, Depp said while he has a potential deal in place that will depend on how good the script is, his passion for the project at the moment has been severely dampened by the news that Cook will no longer be around.
"There's a fissure, a crack in my enthusiasm at the moment," Depp said. "It was all born in that office."
Depp said he was confident that he and Cook will one day work together again.
"He will be somewhere and I will always look forward to working with him. I consider Dick a friend inside an insane system. He's someone I understand and I think he understands me."

~Blast From The Past - Nightmare In Elm Street~
As most of you already know Johnny's movie debut was "A Nightmare In Elm Street" Directed by Wes Craven. Johnny plays Glen Lantz, Nancy's boyfriend who was an unknown at the time when he was cast; yet eventually got the part of Glen. This is the official trailer for the movie. Johnny was quoted as saying when he got the part of Glen I was just not what Wes Craven had written for the story. He had written the part of a big, blond, beach jock, football player guy. And I was sort of emaciated, with old hairspray and spiky hair, earrings, a little catacomb dweller. Then five hours later that agent called me and said, "You're an actor". If you want to see all Johnny's scenes from the film you can see them in the clip below found on youtube.Johnny even managed to return to do a cameo in what was supposed to be the Final Nightmare. He appears in a TV commercial during the film and if you checkout the film credits Johnny is listed as Guy on TV-Oprah Noodlemantra. You can checkout the scene below.
~Johnny Depp Released From The Picture Vault~
I had planned to reveal some older pictures of Johnny in our next Blast From The Past segment until I had seen these pictures. Apparently these are from 1983 taken in South Florida for the opening of his debut movie, Nightmare on Elm Street. I am a little confused about the time line since the film was only completed in 1984 and released that same year due to editing being rushed through for a November release. Anyway if someone knows something here I don't then please feel free to speak up. Click on the pictures for a better view.

Tim Burton Briefly talks with MTV about Dark Shadows saying that it's still early days on Dark Shadows, and one of the biggest challenges is to just capture that weird tone of the show," he also mentioned that it's also too early to say if fans can expect a cameo from Jonathan Frid in the up coming film adaption of Dark Shadows. Jonathan played Barnabas Collins in the original TV soap.
For now, the focus is on Burton's unfinished "Alice in Wonderland," which hits theaters in March 2010. As the director reveals in the video below, he hasn't even seen the Caterpillar yet! "Dark Shadows" will come, in due time. But first, we all need to take a trip down the rabbit hole.
