We told you about Johnny Depp Directing and appearing in BabyBird Music Promo from their upcoming Album Ex-Maniac. Although we are still waiting on confirmation of the release date for the music prom we can tell you that the album will be released on 1st March 2010 which will also feature JD.

~Ballybrando The Film That Never Was~

In the summer of 1995 a cavalcade of Hollywood's A-list descended on the East Cork town of Ballycotton with stars Marlon Brando and Johnny Depp. Devine Rapture quickly re-dubbed 'Divine Rupture' ran into financial difficulties less than three weeks into its Cork shooting schedule. The film a black comedy revolved around the tale of an elderly priest who believed in miracles. Produced by Hot Shot Films, 'Ballybrando' will be a nostalgic tribute to the the film that never was made in Ireland. Several of the 'Divine Rapture' crew fly back to Ballycotton for a nostalgic chat with locals about the move-that-never-was. The documentary goes back in time asking questions on every bodies mind at the time.
So what went wrong? Why did the movie's funding fall through? And why was Brando wandering round the village in a bright orange wig? It later emerged that just 24 minutes of film footage had been secured before the schedule was suspended. A decade on, the villagers and producers recollect the madness and the heartbreak of Ballycotton's boulevard of broken dreams. Ballybrando is expected to be screened over Christmas.

~GK Films Signs 3 Year Deal With Sony Pictures~

Producer Graham King, has linked a three-year, multi-film output pact with Sony Pictures Worldwide Acquisitions Group. King who is coming to the end of his 4 year deal with Warners will independently develop, finance and produce a minimum of two films a year that will be marketed and distributed worldwide by the Culver City studio.

King will continue to work with Warners on a number of films already in development. “Working with Warners has been, and continues to be, a wonderful experience and I cherish the support and collaboration of the whole team,” said King. “But the deal with Sony Pictures gives us guaranteed distribution for our films and the opportunity to work with a successful and respected studio that handles every type of motion picture equally well. It is a perfect transition for us and I look forward to working closely with the entire Sony team over the next several years on our new slate of films.” Said King. We are hoping his will not affect GK Films and Infinitum Nihil deal with Warners to bring Dark Shadows to the big screen.

~Public Enemies DVD Release Date Confirmed~

Universal Studios Home Entertainment has confirmed a US release date of December 8 for Public Enemies which will be released on Blu-ray Disc and Two Disc Special Edition DVD. The July 1, 2009 release directed by Michael Mann tells the story of bank robber John Dillinger which made nearly $200 million worldwide. Public Enemies on Blu-ray will retail for $24.99 with Amazon pricing expected to fall in the $24.49 range when pre-orders go active.

~Christopher Young To Score The Rum Diary~

Moviescore has announced that composer Christopher Young reunites with director Bruce Robinson to score his upcoming Adaption of Hunter S. Thompson film, The Rum Diary, Produced by and starring Johnny Depp, Giovanni Ribisi, Aaron Eckhart, and Richard Jenkins. Young wrote one of his most influential scores for Robinson’s 1992 thriller Jennifer 8. The Rum Diary is Robinson’s first feature film since Jennifer 8 – after that film he has only written a couple of screenplays and worked a little bit in television. Produced by Infinitum Nihil, GK Films, Dark & Stormy Entertainment. The Rum Diary The movie is set to be released in 2010 and tells the story of Paul Kemp (Depp), a freelance journalist who finds himself at a critical turning point in his life while writing for a run-down newspaper in the Caribbean. Tim Powers "On Stranger Tides" With Johnny Depp

After the title release of Pirates 4 of "On Stranger Tides" at the D23 Expo we all wondered if the title had any relation to the 1987 Book titled "On Stranger Tides" by Tim Powers. LA times has confirmed that Disney did in fact option the book in April of 2007. Powers wanted to publicly celebrate a career windfall but Disney made a deal with the book option that it be kept under wraps. No one was more suprised than Tim Powers when the book title was promoted at the Disney convention with Johnny Depp.

"I was still -- as far as I understood -- not free to talk about it," the author told me Monday. "Then about a week ago my agent wrote and said, 'You're now able to say that in fact Disney did option the book.' That happened a while ago, it'll be three years in April." The novelist, with a dozen books to his credit, is still a bit dazed by the fact that a book he published during the Reagan administration will setting sail in May 2011 as new edition of a Disney franchise that has racked up $1.78 billion in worldwide box office since hoisting its flag in 2003. "Yes, I'm thrilled," Power said, "I think it's great."

~Blast From The Past - Johnny Depp & The Lemonheads~

In our third Blast From The Past we look at another music video with Johnny who has made a few cameo appearences in movies and music videos over the years. In our first Blast From The Past of 2009 we introduced you to the Top Petty Music Video "Into The Great Wide open" which some off you may or may not have seen before. Well we also have another music video this time from 1992 when Johnny made a cameo appearance in the Lemonheads music video titled "It's A Shame About Ray".

~Emir Kusturic's Monument To Johnny Depp~

Famed Serbian director Emir Kusturica is planning to build a monument in honor of his friend, Johnny Depp. The statue will be placed in Andrei Tarkovsky Square in Drvengrad a faux traditional Serbian village. Johnny is apparently scheduled to be the guest of honor at the unveiling which will take place in January at the Kustendorf Film Festival in Drvngrad which will also feature a retrospective of Depp's movies. Johnny is also rumored to star in Kusturica next movie about Pancho Villa along with Salma Hayek and Miki Manojlovic, which is due to go into production next year.
