~Rango Movie Site Update Reveals Some New Characters~

If you have recently visited the Rango Movie site you may have noticed some new characters and although it does not mention who the characters are it's more than we knew before. Although we know who some of the stars it is not so easy matching the names to the voices. Visiting IMDB won't get you anywhere either even although there character names are listed it does not tell you what the characters are. Unfortunately there is no point viewing the site at night as it just shows the highway, some stars and cars moving along the highway. But if you visit the site in the day time it becomes a little more Interactive when you click on the items.

The first characters you will see will depend on what you click on first. The owl was the first one that came up for me. If you wave your mouse over the guitar the owl will appear playing a little jig on an electric guitar. As for the other items laying on the road, click on the fish it jumps in the air, click on the palm tree and it throws rocks at the cars, click on the radio it will play music.

Clicking on the Toad a few time makes it mad but if you click on it enough it jumps up and takes a hissy fit. If you click on the pill bug it goes into the hole and out pops a couple of gopher's.
Hopefully they will reveal who some of the characters are but for now you are left guessing. So visit RangoMovie.com and see how quickly you get bored when you run out of things to interact with. For updates on the movie visit Rango on Facebook.

~Infinitum Nihil & GK Films Renew Production Deal~

According to Deadline Johnny Depp & Graham King have re-cemented their production deal for another 3 years. Under the new deal, GK Films will fully finance and co-produce film and TV projects hatched by Johnny Depp and Infinitum Nihil president Christi Dembrowski.

Johnny Depp is involved in most of the projects with Graham King either as an actor or producer. GK Films production of The Tourist just completed filming which stars both  Angelina Jolie & Johnny Depp. GK films also produced and financed Infinitum Nihil's adaptation of Hunter Thompson's The Rum Diary starring Johnny Depp & The Invention of Hugo Cabret directed by Martin Scorsese. Next up will be Dark Shadows directed by Tim Burton for Warner Bros, which will also star Johnny Depp.

~ The Rum Diary International Trailer Coming Soon ~

According to FilmTotaal The Rum Diary Trailer will be released sometime between Now and Mid July. In an Interview with E1 Entertainment Benelux who provided the online photos for The Rum Diary,  FilmTotaal asked them to clarify some information regards the status of The Rum Diary.

The Rum Diary is an independently produced film, which means that no studio is attached to a cinema release.  In this case, Graham King, with his GK Films, has not yet sold the film to an American distributor. Most countries bought the film based on the script but US distributors generally prefer to stick with Blockbusters. GK Films as producer and sales agent is not able to control the distribution itself, and thus a deal with a distributor is required. We expect the trailer between now and mid July. Currently we have a sales promo length trailer that we obviously cannot release, but it looks really beautiful and colorful.

As the Interview was machine translated via freetranslation.com from Dutch to English it is hard to totally verify all the information provided. You can view the full article @ FilmTotaal.nl

~Pirates of The Caribbean On Stranger Tides Synopsis Released~

As most of you already know Pirates has already started filming in Hawaii this past week. Disney has now made an official announcement with synopsis. The fourth installment is being shot in Disney Digital 3D and returns both Geoffrey Rush as Captain Barbossa and Kevin R. McNally returns as Captain Jack’s longtime comrade Joshamee Gibbs, along with series newcomers Ian McShane as Blackbeard and Penelope Cruz as Blackbeard’s daughter.

“Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides” captures the fun, adventure and humor that ignited the hit franchise —this time in Disney Digital 3D™. In this action-packed tale of truth, betrayal, youth and demise, Captain Jack Sparrow crosses paths with a woman from his past (Penelope Cruz), and he’s not sure if it’s love—or if she’s a ruthless con artist who’s using him to find the fabled Fountain of Youth. When she forces him aboard the Queen Anne’s Revenge, the ship of the formidable pirate Blackbeard (Ian McShane), Jack finds himself on an unexpected adventure in which he doesn’t know who to fear more: Blackbeard or the woman from his past.

~Paramount Pictures Announces Official Website For Rango~

Paramount Pictures has announced their official website for Rango in the most bizarre way possible by releasing a short clip of a mechanical goldfish drifting across a sand-swept desert highway. On a side note Disney has used this kind of technique in the past as you can see here using UP as an example. The computer animated feature film is based on an idea by Verbinski himself about a pet chameleon with an Identity crisis.  Industrial Light & Magic will be doing the animation using “cutting edge techniques” that Verbinski has said, “will allow us to capture and translate every aspect of Johnny’s performance, using it to drive the computer-generated character in a way that has yet to be seen in an animated feature.”  The poster on the left was also released on their Facebook Page with a very short synopsis, but again not really giving much away.  You can view the clip below for yourself and let us know what you think.

Paramont Licensing uses the following synopsis with the poster we previously revealed here: "While traveling out West with his family, a pet chameleon named Rango (Johnny Depp) is accidentally stranded in an old western town called Dirt. Surrounded by a slew of crazy locals, Rango goes on an exciting journey to discover the hero within himself in this big-screen animated adventure".

Rango will be released in the US on March 18th 2011". You can get a current listing of Global Sites and Release Dates here.
