The "Lone Ranger" takes place in 1869. A Texas Ranger left for dead, is saved by the Comanche Tonto (Johnny Depp), who gives his new partner the masked identity of Lone Ranger.
Arnie Hammer (Social Network) had been announced to play the role of the Texas Ranger. The script written by Justin Haythe, Ted Elliott and Terry Rossio is apparently loosely based on the TV show The Lone Ranger. Produced by Jerry Bruckheimer The film begins production later this year.
