Johnny Depp Reprises Edward Scissorhands

Johnny will be joining the cast of Family Guy to reprises his role as Edward Scissorhands in a small cameo on an upcoming episode of Family Guy reports Entertainment Weekly. In a brief cameo, Depp voices Edward in one of the show’s cutaway gags. It did take a second for the actor — who watches the show with his kids — to get back into that vulnerable character from two decades ago, though. “When he was in the booth, he said that he felt like he hadn’t done that voice since he did it in front of the camera,” notes Family Guy executive producer Mark Hentemann. “He was able to snap right back into Edward Scissorhands once we pulled up a clip from the movie.” Adds Hentemann: “He was amazing — and demonstrated extraordinary patience with all the fawning women in our office who swarmed him.” Source: Entertainment Weekly.

Johnny Depp Co-Editing Woody Guthrie Novel

Johnny Depp is co-editing with author Douglas Brinkley on the "House Of Earth" the lost Woody Guthrie novel.

In New York Times both Douglas Brinkley & Johnny Depp penned an essay titled, "This Land Was His Land, Woody Guthrie’s Dust Bowl Novel". The novel tells the story of two West Texas farmers, Tike and Ella May Hamlin, who despite an intense connection with the land they live on can't keep their house safe from damage in the dust storms, until Tike decides to build a new home out of adobe. But since Tike and Ella's home is on land owned by a big bank in cahoots with a lumber company, the project is forbidden. Although the novel was finished in 1947 it was never published, Guthrie's novel is set for publication next year with the help of both Depp & Brinkley who met via Hunter S Thompson. They previously worked together on soundtrack liner notes for Gonzo, a documentary about their notorious mutual friend. They recently presented House of Earth to Bob Dylan; the singer was reportedly "bowled over" and "surprised by the genius [of the prose]" The essay can be read here. read here. Paul McCartney directs Johnny Depp and Natalie Portman in the music video "My Valentine," one of two original compositions on his new standards album Kisses on the Bottom. Paul McCartney released his latest music video on Friday at a star-studded affair at his daughter Stella McCartney's West Hollywood boutique. Based on an Idea by his daughter Stella McCartney, this video features a simple meditative shot of Johnny Depp, who Interprets McCartney’s words in sign language. There are three versions of the video – this one with Johnny, another with Natalie Portman and the third with both actor. Source: Rolling Stone
